About Us

Rooted in structural innovation and pure design.

Who We Are

Aquafold started with a simple observation: India's packaging problem isn't a lack of alternatives — it's that alternatives are often positioned as incremental improvements over plastic, competing on plastic's terms.

  • India generates 10–12 million tonnes of bagasse annually, a fibrous sugarcane byproduct that is low-cost, partially processed, and widely available.
  • Aquafold uses bagasse as a manufacturing feedstock for molded fiber packaging.
  • Its first product line includes molded fiber food-service packaging such as plates, bowls, containers, and takeout boxes for restaurants, cloud kitchens, and catering businesses.
  • The second product line is under development which will be molded fiber bottles which are undergoing structural design and validation.

Our Mission

To build scalable molded fiber packaging systems that reduce dependence on single-use plastic.

Our Approach

Material-first, not product-first: We develop barrier coatings, fiber blends, and forming processes that unlock new applications — then design products around what the material can do.

  • Manufacturing-led, not marketing-led: Product launches are gated by production readiness, not pitch decks or crowdfunding timelines.
  • B2B-focused, not consumer-retail: We sell to businesses with volume commitments and supply chain discipline.
  • Local production: Karnataka-based manufacturing reduces logistics costs, supports regional agro-waste utilization, and shortens iteration cycles.
5-Year Plan

Year 1-2 (2026-2027): Factory Launch & Food-Service Line

  • Commission molded fiber production facility (September 2026 target)
  • Pilot production of food-service packaging: plates, bowls, containers (The Carry, The Pour, The Serve, The Gather)
  • Pursue FSSAI compliance, KSPCB clearance, and compostability testing
  • Onboard initial B2B customers: cloud kitchens, QSR chains, catering companies

Year 2-3 (2027-2028): Bottle Production & Scale

  • Complete structural validation and prototype testing of 1-litre molded fiber bottle (The Vessel)
  • Set up bottle-specific tooling and production line
  • Launch pilot production with beverage brand partners
  • Pursue additional certifications: FSC, third-party migration testing, ISO 9001

Year 3-5 (2028-2030): Market Penetration & New Applications

  • Achieve commercial-scale bottle production (100,000+ bottles/month)
  • Develop custom B2B solutions for enterprise clients
  • Expand geographic distribution: Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi NCR
  • Target production capacity: 2-5 million units/month across all product lines
